Basic Teaching and Learning KAP 2011

Salam 1 Malaysia. As has been mentioned in previous posts, I have attended a course of Basic Teaching and Learning KAP 2011. Therefore, I would like to share some stories about this course and pictures that I took. This course is really interesting things in which all participants have been exposed to effective teaching in the class. This course is held over five days starting June 21, 2011 until June 25, 2011 at ILQAM UiTM. The participants are new lecturers who have teaching experience mostly under 5 years.

Speakers involved in this course are:
  1. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syed Jamal Abdul Nasir (i-Learn)
  2. Mr. Suthagar AL Narasuman (ILQAM)
  3. Prof. Dr. Abu Bakar Ibrahim (EDU)
  4. Mdm. Lim Wai Fun (EDU)
  5. Prof. Dr. Syed Noh Syed Ahmad (FACT)
  6. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jaafar Jantan or Dr. JJ (FSG)
  7. Prof. Dr. Hadariah Bahron (HEA)
  8. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faizah Majid (EDU)
  9. Dr. Noor Hanim Rahmat (EDU)
  10. Ms Rosalind Xaviour Thambusamy (EDU)
Various topics were discussed such as Reflective Teaching, Dialogical Teaching and Approaches to Teaching. As we know, in 21st century, teaching method has been change from traditional method (lecture) to interactive teaching (discussion and student centered). Thus, this is the best way to give exposure to new lecturers whereby can be applied in classroom for their students. With all humility, I think this course an important though it is necessary to the new lecturer because it is one of the criteria to be confirmed. The last day in this course, all participants are needed to do mock teaching which is they have to apply all the elements that been taught to them.

A-LIEP 2011

Asia-Pacific Conference on Library & Information Education and Practice: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities will be held at the Pullman Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia. This is an international conference to be joined by presenters papers in the field of library and information management. The fourth A-LIEP will provide a platform for participants to discuss, share, and debate on several issues and challenges facing education and practice in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS), with particular emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. This is organized by the Faculty of Information Management, UiTM and the Tun Abdul Razak Library, UiTM in collaboration with International Islamic University Malaysia.

In fact, for this conference I was involved in managing hospitality, but because the date coincided with the Basic Teaching Course (KAP 2011) should I attend has caused me to just deal with before the conference is held only. It is hoped that this conference will run smoothly and all staff will work diligently to achieve this. To all who are interested can visit the website A-LIEP 2011 for further details and charges. In future posts, I will share the pictures with respect to this conference with all. InsyaAllah.
